Steel Pan Resources

Twocans Playing

If you are in a steel drum band, you know that it can be tough to find the music & information you need.  Here a few links that might be helpful!

We've got a couple of things that are really great resources for any steel band musician or bandleader: a great article on how the drum set fits into the steelband, some music charts to get a few songs started, and a couple of reference pages for chord charts and the ranges of the steel drum instruments.

For those of you who are trying to make or tune your own pans, you should check out Sweden-based Ulf Kronmen's book on Tuning A Steel Drum for some great info!

You can view the pages by clicking the thumbnails, or just right-click to download the linked image.  Please feel free contact us if you have any questions!

Steelband Music Charts

A few easy to moderate level pieces of music, charted up just for you by the Toucans.  These are not full treatments; just lead sheets, some chords and sometimes a bassline, intended to help you get your own arrangements off the ground.

This challenging arrangement of a Venezuelan string band piece from the 1920's is a beautiful piece with a charming "old world" feel.  Well worth the effort it will take to learn!
