Endowment Fund
The Best Should Teach Initiative is managed by the Graduate Teacher Program in conjunction with the School of Education at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and the Alumni Association at Fort Lewis College. This initiative strives to recruit, support and reward excellence in teaching.

A plaque, designed by sculpture artist John Haertling, has been installed on the Boulder campus as a visual reminder of the initiative. Each year, an outstanding undergraduate form the School of Education is awarded an Excellent Teacher lapel pin.

The Graduate School last year gave out ten gold pins to participants in the Graduate Teacher Program who had been judged outstanding. Five gold pins were given out to outstanding teachers in Colorado School Systems. About forty silver pins were given to lead teachers who mentor future college teachers.
